ODFW reports unexpected mortality of chinook smolts at Beaver Slough release site

A group of newly released hatchery fall Chinook salmon smolts have died at a release site in Beaver Slough, a tributary of the Coquille River. The public discovered the dead fish after The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) released the 37,600 smolts on Sept. 11.
