Connecticut anglers alarmed by $500K fish hatchery budget cut

A report by the Hartford Courant states that Gov. Ned Lamont’s proposed 2026-27 budget includes recommended line item adjustments to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). Last year, fish hatcheries received about US$3.5 million; the new proposal reduces that to just over $3 million.

FAO and Nofima launch course on aquaculture breeding and genetics

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has published a joint certified course with Nofima called Aquaculture breeding and genetics. This course aims to raise awareness about the importance of the effective management of aquatic genetic resources used in aquaculture.
