In this edition of 30 Mechanical Minutes we speak with hydronics expert John Siegenthaler about the role of thermal storage in optimizing energy efficiency.
Hydronics is gradually seeing increased levels of electrification with, for example, the number of air-to-water heat pumps entering the market. At the same time, electrical utilities are increasingly promoting time-of-use rate incentive structures allowing customers to save money by sourcing electricity in off-peak hours.
The logical next step is to incorporate methods to optimize lower-cost electricity use for the thermal demands of a home or building. Thermal storage is that solution.
John Siegenthaler will help explain the concepts and walk us through some scenarios that are in action.
