The mounting carrier, which can be either clamped onto a mounting rail or screwed tightly to any smooth surface, is what makes the 221 essential for safety.

Connect solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors; 24 - 12 AWG
Connectors obtain AEx (Class 1, Zone 1) rating when used in conjunction with the mounting carrier
Rated up to 440 V with spacing between adjacent connectors in the mounting carrier; rated 275 V without spacing
