Manure applied to wheat crops or to forage crops can be an excellent option, but not in winter on frozen soils. Manure application in winter should never be part of a manure management plan. Rather, it should be part of a contingency plan, because we all know that weather happens. Frequent rain and a late corn harvest are taxing manure storage capacities on many farms. Contingency plans are essential for manure that must be applied in less than ideal conditions.

The 2018 North American Manure Expo featured Zimmerman Manufacturing's Red Ziper toolbar during the equipment demonstartions, held August 15th in Brookings, S.D. The Red Viper unit manure spreader was designed for both low and high gallon users, and is capable of covering 20,000 plus GPA with very little disturbance to the soil.
