Dairy farmers in the U.S. are struggling in the fourth year of an economic downturn, and many of the factors contributing to the problem are out of farmers’ control. One way in which they can improve their situation is to focus on conservation, which has financial benefits and positive long-term effects. The high up-front investment cost is an impediment which better financial support could overcome.
