Poultry manure has often been viewed as a waste product of lesser value to the agriculture industry as a whole. But a new study at Iowa State University shows that chicken litter is much more than just waste. In fact, it could play a key part in restoring the oxygen-deprived waters in the Gulf of Mexico. After more than 20 years of study with a plan to expand research for a few years more, ISU has found that this could not only help the environment, but also increase profitability for poultry manure.
