From the archives: Manure has a lot to offer. But one area where it hasn't taken off as much is in Atlantic Canada. This is in part because farmers on the East Coast, where livestock doesn't play quite as big of a role as the region's prolific potato industry, don't have as much access to manure as they do to commercial fertilizer. But a "challenge" by the country's agriculture body looks to encourage those growers with access to manure to use it on potatoes – and it has results to back up this bold challenge.
