Manufacturing growth picks up, but inflationary pressures intensify

September data revealed a positive month overall for the Canadian manufacturing sector, with output and new business growth regaining momentum after August’s slowdown, according to IHS Markit Canada Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).

Lawson Products, Inc., an industrial distributor of maintenance and repair products to the MRO marketplace, announced the acquisition of The Bolt Supply House Ltd., based in Calgary, for a purchase price of approximately CAD$40.0 million.


FLIR Systems awarded $74.7 million contract for land surveillance systems

FLIR Systems, Inc. has been awarded a $74.7 million firm-fixed-price order to deliver TacFLIR surveillance cameras in support of the U.S. Army EO/IR-Force Protection (FP) program. The U.S. Army will purchase the systems through Army Contracting Command, Redstone.


Progress Energy selling Alberta assets, but not abandoning Canada

Petronas has put a massive package of oil and gas assets in Alberta on the sales block but it has no intention of abandoning the country despite the recent cancellation of its plan to build a West Coast LNG terminal, a spokeswoman says.
