The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario has published new guidelines dealing with conflict of interest for registered massage therapists.

Earlier this year, a massage therapist removed a large number of confidential patient files from a multidisciplinary clinic prompting investigations by law enforcement and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC). Fortunately, the investigations help set a precedent to determine file ownership and the patient information was safely returned to the clinic owner.

The Registered Massage Therapists' Association of B.C. (RMTBC) is taking advantage of the observance of Massage Therapy Month this October to update and educate the public on the benefits of massage therapy to physical and mental health, a press release from the RMTBC said.
