The MS Society of Canada is reminding Canadians that multiple sclerosis is anything but a routine disease. MS affects each person differently and treatment options can vary drastically from person to person. Some choose pharmaceuticals. Some do not. This one-hour webinar will describe an evidence-based process of interpreting patient history followed by “pain provocation” assessment to isolate the mechanism that causes back pain. Eliminating the pain-causing mechanism is the first step. Exercise prescription is the second step, based on the assessment, and involves a blend of strategic mobility and stability. These variables together with movement patterns assist in winding down pain sensitivity. Then, the program shifts to build the foundation for a pain-free body using the “knowledge of mechanism”.
About the Speaker: Stuart McGill is a “University Professor Emeritus” of spine biomechanics, University of Waterloo. His advice is often sought by governments, corporations, legal experts and elite athletes and teams from around the world. Difficult back cases are regularly referred to him for consultation.

With the development of the Clinical Practice Guideline: Evaluation of the Neck Mass in Adults, the appropriate testing and physical examination of an adult with a neck mass is addressed, with a specific goal to reduce delays in diagnosis of malignant disease and to optimize outcomes. The guideline is published in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and presented at the AAO-HNSF 2017 Annual Meeting and OTO Experience in Chicago.
