Concussion management: Research suggests exercise is best approach

Public interest in concussion has exploded over the space of a generation, together with a new understanding of how best to help patients recover. Concussion patients were once prescribed rest in a dark room, but in recent years concussion management has literally come out of the dark.


Curtailed sleep may alter how intense exercise stresses the heart

In a new study, participants underwent an intense bout of exercise after both normal sleep and after three nights of curtailed sleep. When they exercised after curtailed sleep, the levels of the heart injury biomarker troponin increased slightly more, compared with when the participants performed exercise in their well-rested condition.


Fatigue predicts early death in older adults

How fatigued certain activities make an older person feel can predict the likelihood death is less than three years away, according to research.
