Cory Worden has more than 18 years’ experience in safety, health and environmental leadership in the healthcare, public health, municipal government, military, manufacturing, and construction fields.

He is currently a City of Houston Safety Administrator specializing in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive hazards and is also the safety advisor for the Houston Health Department.

Cory has published nine books and over 110 articles, webinars, podcasts, and research posters. His work has been published by ASSP, National Safety Council, AOHP, ISHN, EHS Today, and more.

Cory was the 2014 ISHM Safety Professional of the Year, a 2015 National Safety Council Rising Star of Safety, the 2016 ASSP Healthcare Practice Specialty Safety Professional of the Year, the 2017 AOHP National Extraordinary Member, the 2018 AOHP Extraordinary Services Award recipient, a 2020 Houston Health Department Excellence in Community Service Recipient, a 2021 City of Houston ‘Bravo’ recipient, a 2022 ASSP Culbertson Award recipient for outstanding volunteer service, the 2022 FEMA Higher Education Conference’s ‘People’s Choice’ selection for best research poster, and the 2022 ASSP Communities of Practices and Standards Safety Professional of the Year along with numerous military medals and awards.
