Construction spending has been on the rise in Canada. According to Statistics Canada*, total construction put in place (CPIP) for 2018 totaled $1,297.7 billion. This is a 4.1increase over the $1,246.0 billion spent during 2017
This growth comes along with real challenges for builders in 2019, such as labour shortages, technology adoption and integration as well as overall business climate in the country. There is an impending labour shortage in Canada coming on the heels of imminent retirement of about 250,000 aging builders over the next 10 years! This is about 21% of the workforce.
