Gaetano Gagliano, Founder and Honorary Chairman of St. Joseph Communications, passed away on April 14, 2016, at age 98. A statement by St. Joseph immediately following his passing describes Gagliano as, “A man with unrivaled determination, strength of character and deep faith and passion.” Perhaps only rivaled by the late Pierre Péladeau, who founded Quebecor in 1965, and Rémi Marcoux, who co-founded Transcontinental in 1976, Gaetano Gagliano was one of Canadian printing’s most influential businesspeople for decades and ultimately expanded his influence across a range of sectors to make St. Joseph one of the country’s most-powerful independent communications companies.

Ryerson University’s Abhay Sharma provides a synopsis of the emerging Expanded Gamut Printing model and how printers can apply it for everyday use. Following a conference held in late 2015, featuring products from Heidelberg, Esko, Xerox, GMG, CGS and PANTONE, it is clear Expanded Gamut Printing is now making an impact and it is important for commercial printers to understand this new evolution in colour control, as more of the industry’s biggest technology providers are spending significant R&D resources on it.
