RiteDepth - Automatic Depth & Distance Controller
- Uniform seeding depth is important to achieve uniform emergence which will in turn help with timing and efficacy of spray & fertilizer applications.
- Planter weight changes dramatically as it empties out (seed of course, but also on-board tanks with chemicals and fertilizer). As the planter empties it rides higher on the soil which affects planting depth.
- Soil conditions are not uniform - from loose to more firm areas. In loose areas, planter wheels (also gauge wheels) will sink in further compared to firm areas - this affects planting depth.
- Gauge wheels at planter shoes help improve uniformity but add components and cost and sometimes get plugged with debris from a previous crop.
- Making frequent manual adjustments is an intensive job and raises the potential that depth control is not always optimal.
- Improve planting depth with less operator input
- Simplifies the planter.
