Syngenta launches fungicide for pink rot and Pythium leak

Syngenta Canada announced the launch of Orondis Gold Potato fungicide for the suppression of two common storage diseases, pink rot and Pythium leak, in potatoes. The fungicide will be available for the 2019 growing season.


Manitoba producers need a good crop to satisfy Simplot expansion

The expansion of Simplot’s french fry processing plant in Portage la Prairie will require 16,000 more acres of potatoes to satisfy its larger capacity. The plant will be accepting potatoes in the fall of 2019, with the intent of being in full production in early 2020.


Coming down the pesticide pipeline

BASF is currently working on Zidua, a pre-emergence herbicide that controls red root pigweed and suppresses lamb’s quarters, and Cimegra, an insecticide that controls leafhoppers and tarnished plant bug.
