Talking tissue part 2: How to reduce variables during tissue converting

The third episode of Pulp & Paper Canada: The Podcast is available!

In the second instalment of our Talking tissue series, we dive into the technical side of tissue making with Frédéric Parent, researcher for the paper and consumer products group at FPInnovations.

Parent discusses the issues that can arise during tissue converting to affect overall efficiency, including bagginess, creping and stretch profile variations.

“The current challenge is there is no on-line tool available in mills during tissue manufacturing that can quantify the key factors that affect converting efficiency,” he says in the episode.

Parent also covers the methods that the research firm has developed to reduce variability on the converting line – which can lead to cost savings for tissue manufacturers.
