Fortress Paper takes on a new name

Fortress Paper Ltd. says it has changed its name to Fortress Global Enterprises Inc. to better reflect its existing business and future prospects.


New super wood is stronger than most metals

Natural wood has been used to build structures for centuries, but it has its limitations. Even after pre-treatment, temperature changes like extreme heat can make wood expand causing it to weaken. A team of scientists say they have came up with a two-step process to help natural wood overcome those barriers.


Verso to restart paper machine in Maine; 120 new jobs created

Verso has announced it will upgrade the shuttered pulp line and No. 3 paper machine at its Androscoggin Mill in Jay, Maine. The paper machine and associated pulping capacity were temporarily shut down as a result of declining demand for the graphic paper products formerly produced on the machine.

Nova Scotia’s Farnell Packaging has achieved certification by the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) organization, an authority in sustainable printing certifications for print manufacturers.
