Pulp mill hit with $241K fine for safety violation

British Columbia’s Skookumchuck Pulp mill has been fined $241,081 for failing to control combustible dust. According to WorkSafeBC, an inspection of the mill found accumulations of dust on multiple horizontal surfaces and fixtures in its chip screen building.


West Fraser CEO Ted Seraphim announces retirement

West Fraser has detailed its senior leadership transition plan. Ted Seraphim has announced he will be retiring as CEO at the end of the Q2 2019, and Ray Ferris has been appointed president and COO effective immediately.


BAP plans to build “world’s first” bamboo bio-refinery and paper mill

BAP Industries of Guatemala will construct and operate what it says is the world’s first bamboo bio-refinery and associated paper mill, located in Nicaragua close to the bamboo raw resource. The facility, it says, will have the capacity to process up to 250,000 metric tonnes of bamboo annually.
