COVID, cyber attack clip AKVA earnings

Aquaculture technology provider, AKVA group said its 2021 third quarter revenues were pulled down by as much as 8 per cent compared to the same period last year, and net profits dived by 22 per cent dues to the negative impact of a major cyber attack and the COVID-19 pandemic.


Refinancing to support Nordic Halibut’s growth plans

Nordic Halibut (NOHAL), a Norwegian producer of sushi-grade halibut, reported that it has entered into a Term Sheet for a NOK 100 million (US$11.6 million) overdraft facility agreement with a Norwegian bank. The money will allow Nordic Halibut to pay its previous long term debt and overdraft facility, and enable the company pursue its production goals as well as expansion plans which include the construction of a new land-based facility.


AquaBounty prepares for US $320 million land-based farm

AquaBounty is gearing up to build a 10,000-ton salmon farm in Pioneer, Ohio that will likely have a price tag that is in excess of US $320 million. AquaBounty intends to begin construction by the end of 2021. The company wants to be able to start commercial stocking by 2023.

AquaMaof bags its first RAS project in Sweden

AquaMaof has just signed a contract to build a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility for Swedish land-based salmon producer Smøgenlax Aquaculture. The facility will be built in the circular economy industrial park in Kungshamn/Smögen, in the Municipality of Sotenä, located in the western coast of Sweden. » Read more
