The Kingfish Company has secured a critical permit for its planned recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility in Jonesport, Maine. The approval by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MDEP) of a Maine Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (MEPDES) permit paves the way for the company to build a land-based aquaculture facility that has an estimated output of 6,000 to 8,000 yellowtail annually, according to Kingfish Maine.

Middle Eastern private equity firm Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners is placing a bet on land-based fish farming. The United Arab Emirates-based Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners “channeled investments in 8F Asset Management’s land-based aquaculture fund, which reached its final close of $358.8 million,” according to a press release.

RAStech, in collaboration with BioMar and Benchmark Genetics, presented a two-part webinar series focused on the role of fish biology and nutrition in recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) environments.
