NaturalShrimp Florida announced it has entered into an agreement with the Jefferson County, Florida Board of Commission to lease a 10-acre tract of land where the company aims to develop a 250,00-square-foot inland shrimp production facility. Under the terms of the agreement, the board will lease or convey the property in the Jefferson County Industrial Park located South of Monticello, Fla.

Global animal feed producer BioMar said it is moving microalgae out of its niche fish feed ingredient status. The company’s facility in Brande, Denmark said it is scaling up the inclusion of microalgae in its raw material product portfolio in a bid to cut the dependence wild fish stocks.

A group of businesses based in the Middle East and Europe have banded together to develop a recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) facility in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The project is intended to supply 2,000 metric tons per year of premium quality, locally grown, Atlantic salmon to the UAE, according to a press release from Ocean Harvest. Aquaculture Courses and the University of St Andrews in Scotland are currently offering 15 fully funded CSC scholarships to obtain an M.Sc. in sustainable aquaculture, with the pre-application window open from Feb. 15 to Apr. 5, 2022. The full CSC scholarships, which cover all tuition fees for the two-year distance learning masters in sustainable aquaculture are open to students living in certain Commonwealth countries.
