Grieg Seafood BC RAS facility expansion nears completion

Grieg Seafood BC Ltd. is one step closer to completing the expansion of a its recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility in British Columbia (B.C.). The company recently celebrated the first of three milestones which indicates that the expansion plan codenamed RAS 34 project is nearing its end.


BioMar puts a halt on all commercial activities with and within Russia

BioMar Group has announced its decision to shut down all trade activities with Russia including sales of finished products and the sourcing of raw materials, following the invasion of Ukraine. The trade ban, which has been approved by the company’s board, is a major step for BioMar, as substituting raw materials and loosing sales volume will have a significant impact.


Coho salmon RAS to be built in West Virginia’s abandoned quarries

A start-up aquaculture company is planning to build a RAS facility Raleigh County, West Virginia. Appalachian Salmon believes the region’s depleted underground mines and aquifers are ideal sources of freshwater for the project. Austin Caperton, founder of Appalachian Salmon, said that the construction of the 20-acre aquaculture centre he is planning will create 200 jobs, and operations in the facility will open up 100 more positions.
