Korea’s first RAS project to produce olive flounder

BlueGen Korea is building a 1,000-metric-ton RAS facility for olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus), also known as Japanese halibut. The project is led by the company’s CEO, Dr. Woo-Jai Lee, who has more than two decades of experiences in genomics and breeding projects in Norway.


FDA to amend environmental assessment on AquaBounty

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be holding a virtual public meeting on its draft amendment of its 2015 environmental assessment (EA) AquaBounty’s production of genetically engineered salmon in several recirculating aquaculture facilities in the U.S. and Canada.


Test results at Indre Harøy show ‘good filet quality and excellent taste’

Tests on the first harvest from Indre Harøy indicate that fish from Salmon Evolution’s recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility have “good quality filet and excellent taste.” The company said its first harvest marks the beginning of Salmon Evolution’s commercial operations.
