University of Guam RAS harvest feeds typhoon victims

Members of a University of Guam aquaculture program recently turned their recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility into a food bank of sorts by donating their fresh tilapia harvest to typhoon victims.


AquaBounty pauses Ohio site construction

AquaBounty cited escalating costs of construction for putting the work being done in its Ohio site on hold. The company said it will "evaluate the timing and cost of size and scope alternatives."


Norwegian parliament passes new aquaculture tax

Following eight months of debate over a controversial tax on salmon and trout farmers, Norway's parliament passed a bill on May 31 mandating an additional resource rent tax on aquaculture with a tax rate of 25 per cent.
