A new government report outlines significant challenges to British Columbia's planned transition from salmon net pens to closed containment and land-based aquaculture production. The report concluded that this transition, which is expected to be done by 2029, requires “high initial capital costs and ongoing operating costs...."


Norway investor takes ownership of Neptun Salmo hatchery

Norway-based seafood investor, Broodstock Capital, has purchased a majority share in hatchery producer, Neptun Salmo AS. The investment will support development of a leading independent hatchery platform in Norway, according to the Broodstock website and PE Insights.


Laxey delivers first post-smolt batch to long-time partner

Laxey has successfully delivered its first batch of post-smolt to its long-term partner. According to a public statement, this delivery marks the launch for the company's "dual revenue" model to produce harvest-size Atlantic salmon while also supplying post-smolts to the traditional net pen farming industry in the region.
