Power transmission sales expected to rise in 2017, PTDA

The fourth quarter 2016 Sales History & Outlook Report (SHOR) released by the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) shows power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) distributor sales declined 3.6 per cent from the 3Q16 level, a typical decline for that time period. However, leading indicators for PT/MC products suggest sales will rise through 2017 and 2018 before declining in 2019 as the macro-economy heads into a mild recession.

Record-breaking equipment and truck auction in Toronto

Ritchie Bros.' Toronto auction site smashed its sales record for the third time in 12 months, selling CA$45+ million (US$32+ million) of equipment and trucks over two days (May 10 – 11).

Optimistic outlook for BC mining sector

The BC mining industry is cautiously optimistic as prices of key metal and resource commodities either rose or stabilized in 2016. The same trend continued in Q1 2017. Net mining revenues came in at $7.3 billion in 2016 up from $6.3 billion in 2015, driven by an increase in gross mining revenue and a decrease in costs for smelting, refining charges, and freight costs.
