Ontario seeks legal clarification on infrastructure review process

The Government of Ontario is taking legal action to ensure the federal government cannot further delay provincial infrastructure projects using the Impact Assessment Act. The Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General announced today it would be seeking a judicial review of a Supreme Court of Canada’s Oct. 13 ruling, to get absolute confirmation it can proceed on major infrastructure projects.


Charges laid in Québec road work bid-rigging case

Two men accused of conspiracy to rig bids on public works projects were formally charged in the Court of Québec on Tuesday. Richard Dionne and Richard Labelle stand accused of conspiring to rig bids on work being done on Highway 50 in the Gatineau region of Québec in 2021.


QR codes, more support proposed for Toronto work zones

The City of Toronto is hoping to expand construction hubs and introduce QR codes and other technology to help alleviate congestion and make streets easier to navigate for road crews and users alike. Traffic Manager Roger Browne will introduce a report to the infrastructure and environment committee this week outlining staff proposals for dealing with the “significant” increase in traffic, events and construction projects across the city, causing extreme delays.
