Work on Ontario's Bradford Bypass takes another step forward

The Ontario government will advance work on the Bradford Bypass through the award of a contract for tree clearing, which is underway. Crews are clearing a path along the planned route for the highway’s west section to tackle gridlock across York Region and Simcoe County.


SEFA joins Heidelberg Materials

Heidelberg Materials North America's subsidiary, SEFA, joins the Heidelberg Materials brand. The company acquired SEFA, a technology leader in converting coal ash for recycled use in concrete, in May 2023.


CarbiCrete increases Canadian production of cement-free concrete

CarbiCrete, a decarbonizing concrete company, has installed new cleantech equipment in the Drummondville, Que., plant operated by hardscape manufacturer Patio Drummond. CarbiCrete's patented technology enables the production of cement-free concrete, avoiding cement-related emissions by replacing cement with a steel-making by-product and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by mineralizing CO2 into the concrete for permanent storage. CarbiCrete's concrete blocks have a carbon footprint that is 20 times less than the industry average.
