N.B. golf course takes stand against snowmobilers

Fredericton's West Hills Golf Course has adopted a new strategy to deter snowmobilers from illegally entering the course to enjoy their winter passion. The course's co-owner says damage caused by snowmobiling causes a delay in the opening of the course in spring.


No rebate for xeriscaping plan in B.C. municipality

There will be no subsidy for residents of Vernon, B.C. who wish to replace their lawns with drought-tolerant plantings. A program to promote xeriscape landscaping to achieve improved water use efficiency has been recommended for the municipality, but a rebate program will not be in the works.


Man will relocate tree due to religious beliefs

A Toronto-area man has won a year-long battle with the city to have a tree relocated from directly in front of his house. The tree's positioning, he argued, was a violation of his religious beliefs.


Oakville open house to discuss emerald ash borer

An open house will be held in Oakville, Ont. on Jan. 11 to inform residents about the removal of dead and dying trees caused by the destructive emerald ash borer.
