Parents upset by school field’s delayed opening

Parents of children returning to class at a Victoria, B.C. elementary school are dismayed to learn its sports field – the only grassy play area at the institution – will be off limits for another seven months. The field is being replaced and won't be ready until April.


Members rally to keep abandoned golf course open

Members at a Nova Scotia golf club whose future was placed in limbo last week have banded together to keep the facility open until its fate is fully realized. The owners of the Annapolis Royal Golf & Country Club mysteriously left the country, putting a number of full-time jobs in jeopardy.


Resident wins artificial turf single colour dispute

A peaceful resolution has resulted from a dispute between a Whitecourt, Alta. resident and the local town council over the colour of an area of boulevard artificial turf. Municipal rules stipulate artificial turf must be two-tone, but the resident successfully argued his turf was installed before the requirements were made clear.


Artificial turf pushed for Nanaimo complex

A sports turf complex in Nanaimo, B.C. could be adding a new artificial turf field with lighting if the city adopts a recommendation from its minor soccer association. One city councillor said artificial turf "is the way of the future" while another said the city must "get up to speed."
