Edmonton to open first artificial turf dog park

A new city park will officially open on Saturday in Edmonton. Alex Decoteau Park will become Edmonton's first off-leash dog park to have artificial turf.


Rainy summer to blame for new school field delay

Even though they raised $100,000 for a new playing field, parents of children attending Earl Beatty Junior and Senior Public School in Toronto are upset it wasn't ready in time for the start of the current school year. A local school board official said the rainy summer is to blame for the delay in the opening of the artificial turf field, but has assured it will be ready the end of October.


International garden centre congress comes to Canada

Canada is serving as the host country Sept. 17-22 for the 59th International Garden Centre Association Congress. The annual event, hosted by a different country each year, showcases the best retailers from around the world to an elite group of garden centre owners and operators. About 250 participants from 21 countries are expected this year.


Vancouver councillor says more to do to ensure trees’ longevity

Vancouver's $10-a-tree sale aimed at reaching 150,000 new trees by 2020 is on course, but one city councillor believes more should be done to ensure the trees have a better chance of achieving maturity.
