A premier baseball field in Niagara Falls will be extensively upgraded for the 2021 Canada Summer Games while construction of an artificial field has been proposed for a site next door. Canada Summer Games will fund 50 per cent of the field upgrade costs at Oakes Park.

About $18.7 million is expected to be spent by the City of Winnipeg to identify, prune, remove and replace trees affected by Dutch elm disease. The city has been losing between 5,000 and 6,000 elm trees each year as a result of the disease.

Yet another Canadian soccer facility has been vandalized by individuals spinning doughnuts in motorized vehicles. Two adjacent fields in Delhi, Ont. were vandalized during the weekend, putting the local volunteer-based soccer club in a bind as to how to come up with the funding necessary for repairs.
