Residents vs. soccer club in N. Vancouver turf war

Residents of North Vancouver are engaged in a turf war with a local soccer club over a proposed new field that would require extensive tree removal. Those living in the Lynnmour area of the city want the forested area preserved while the president of the North Vancouver Football Club says there are other areas where residents can enjoy a walk in the woods.

Digging up buried metal treasure in Vernon, B.C. city parks is illegal, but an argument has been put forth that it could make the parks safer. A proponent of the outlawed practice said it could enable lost jewelry to be returned to their rightful owners and would rid parks of discarded needles.
