Residents of North Vancouver are engaged in a turf war with a local soccer club over a proposed new field that would require extensive tree removal. Those living in the Lynnmour area of the city want the forested area preserved while the president of the North Vancouver Football Club says there are other areas where residents can enjoy a walk in the woods.

A work site at the Hamptons Golf Course in Calgary has been shut down after it was determined no work permit had been issued. Since late September, the owners of the course have removed more than 40 mature spruce trees along two holes that are regarded as havens for deer and migrating birds.
