Residents say golf course development ruining lake

A Nova Scotia golf course up for auction as a result of the owner's inability to pay two environmental fines totaling more than half a million dollars, is ruining the quality of water on Fox Point Lake as well as the way of life of some neighbouring property owners, they claim.


McArthur makes court appearance via video link

Alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur made a court appearance yesterday via video link. The 66-year-old landscaper has already been charged with the murders of five men, but investigators say further charges could be made in the coming days.


Charlottetown maintains pesticide ban exemption

Exemptions in Charlottetown, P.E.I.'s cosmetic pesticide bylaw will remain in place after the city's mayor was forced to break a tie vote on whether or not to remove the exemptions. The debate focused on the exemption to use banned products in the event of an infestation.


Bird dies in soccer goal netting

A large bird, thought to be an owl or hawk, has died after getting caught in the mesh of a soccer field at Memorial High School in Sydney Mines, N.S. It's believed to be the first such incident since the school was built in the mid-1970s.
