ClubLink might not have "a leg to stand on" in its desire to redevelop the Kanata Golf & Country Club into new housing, says the city's former mayor, who in 1981, signed a legal agreement that could scuttle the proposed project.

A proposal to convert a full-size natural turf sports field and an adjacent smaller gravel field into two artificial playing surfaces is not sitting well with an East Vancouver neighbourhood committee. The Clinton Neighbourhood Committee is against plans to "plasticate" the park while the city feels the synthetic surfaces can bring about significantly greater hours of usage.

A decision rendered by Justice Morgan of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice has quashed Oakville's Cultural Heritage Landscape Conservation Plan as well as the associated bylaws for the Glen Abbey Golf Club. In spite of the ruling, the golf course will remain on the Ontario Heritage Register. Property owner ClubLink is reviewing the court decision.

A three-year research program aimed at improving turfgrass in residential areas has concluded at the Vineland Research & Innovation Centre at Vineland Station, Ont. “Often regarded as an environmental foe, grass is actually an environmental ally,” Dr. Michael Brownbridge, research director, horticultural production systems at Vineland, wrote in his summary report.
