Newmarket opens its first artificial turf field

The first artificial turf sports field in Newmarket, Ont. has officially opened, enabling several local sports groups to extend their seasons well into the fall and being able to start earlier in the spring. The field replaced an existing natural surface at Dr. J.M. Denison Secondary School on Bristol Road.


P.E.I. backs idea for college artificial turf field in Charlottetown

The Prince Edward Island government has endorsed the idea of a new artificial turf field to be built by Holland College at the Charlottetown Events Grounds. The multi-sport field would be made available to local sport and recreation associations, along with college varsity and intramural sports teams.

A Calgary city councillor says a new artificial turf sports field is badly needed for the city's Genesis Centre, recommending $2 million from the city's fiscal stability reserve fund be earmarked for such a project.
