Settlement reached in lawn mower class action suit

A class action suit launched in Canada against eight manufacturers of lawn mowers has resulted in a settlement of $7.5 million. The suit alleged the manufacturers conspired to make their products sound more powerful in order to justify charging customers more money.


Pembina Pipeline makes healthy contribution to Tree Canada

A $225,000 from Pembina Pipeline Corporation has been made to Tree Canada to help schools and neighbourhoods green up their properties. "This type of partnership is crucial in benefiting schools and communities by growing better places to live, work and play.” Michael Rosen, president of Tree Canada, said.


Councillor urges city to take over Kanata course

The City of Kanata, Ont. should take over the Kanata Golf & Country Club in order to stop proposed development at the site – at least until it's sold first to a private bidder, one councillor says. Course owner ClubLink claims it's getting harder to make money from the operation.


Parks official wants Vancouver to ban gas equipment

A Vancouver Parks Board commissioner wants the city to enact a bylaw that will outlaw gas-powered landscaping equipment in favour of electric-powered tools. He says it's both a pollution and noise issue.
