Upcoming construction projects in London, Ont. will result in the removal of about 170 trees on York Street. Because the work will stretch from one side of the street to the other, including the need to tear up sidewalks, the trees cannot be saved, but a city official says many of the trees aren't in the best of health anyway.

Dozens of trees at the Langara Golf Course in Vancouver –ranging in height from eight feet to 40 feet – have been cut down by vandals. The cuts appear to have been made by a handsaw and include such species as sequoia, fir and alder.

The sports field adjacent to the former Moncton High School is being converted into a 562-space parking lot in spite of opposition from neighbouring residents who wanted the city to retain the downtown green space. The school closed in 2015, reopening with a new building elsewhere in the city.

A private snow removal contractor says he is back in business again in Brampton after shutting down his operation and inconveniencing his customers last week. Customers of Eccoclean Snow Removal paid hundreds of dollars up front for snow services, only to be jolted when the company didn't show up during the season's largest snowfall.

The two groups awarded the former McArthur Island golf course property in Kamloops have mixed feelings over city council's decision this week to turn the land into both an 18-hole disc golf course and a nature setting. The Kamloops Disc Golf Club is excited by the decision, but the Kamloops Naturalist Club doesn't quite share the same degree of ecstasy.
