Toronto FC anticipates improved playing surface

The Toronto FC Major League Soccer Club is hoping for better field conditions at BMO Field for its game on Sunday. Team captain Michael Bradley said the playing surface was slow for the team's most recent home game, but conditions are expected to improve as the field emerges from winter and awaits the introduction of artificial fibres to strengthen the natural turf.


Artificial turf, dome among stadium’s new features

York University's Keele campus stadium in Toronto is being renovated into a multi-use facility with artificial turf and a seasonal dome cover. The stadium was built for the 2015 Pan American Games.


Loan keeps Alberta golf course open for play

The Town of Redcliff, Alta. has agreed to loan $315,000 to the Riverview Golf Club to keep the golf course open. The club has faced financial difficulties in recent years yet members have been fighting to keep the facility open.

Managing putting greens can be compared to running in a marathon. Golf superintendents must do as much as possible during the spring to “train” for the marathon that is typically “run” in July and August, and sometimes into September.
