NFL’s first ever game site getting new artificial field

Triangle Park in Dayton, Ohio – site of the first ever National Football League game played in 1920 – is going to receive a new artificial turf field funded by the NFL Foundation. The field is expected to be completed in time to commemorate the league's 100th anniversary in 2020 and will feature a practice session by the Cincinnati Bengals.


Vernon riled over out-of-control geese droppings

Parks, playing fields and beaches in Vernon, B.C. are becoming overrun with goose droppings to the point where one local councillor has called the area "Planet of the Geese." The city is considering a strategy that would allow off-leash dogs to encourage the fowl to nest elsewhere.


No more yard waste in Hamilton’s green bins

Leaf and yard waste will no longer be accepted in green bins in the City of Hamilton, as of today. Such waste must now be placed inside a brown paper bag marked with a city yard waste sticker.


Parliament Hill’s historic elm’s fate expected April 2

A lone elm tree situated on the east side of Centre Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa is expected to have its fate decided tomorrow during a meeting of Parliament's procedure and house affairs committee. The tree, which has been at the site for at least 100 years, may be removed to make way for an expanded Parliament Hill visitors' centre.
