The pandemic has transformed how we work, not just in the office, but also in the field—for essential workers and those required to be on the job site to get work done, in industries like energy and utilities, manufacturing, retail, education, government and more".
PwC Canada’s latest Canadian field worker study takes the pulse of Canadian field workers—full or part-time employees who pre-pandemic spent most if not all of their workday in a non-office setting. The survey reveals their perceptions of the potential for technology to improve their job, the impact of the pandemic on their well-being and their organization’s effectiveness in adapting to the disruption.
Findings at a glance:
Untapped potential in upskilling and technology
Most workers weren't using technology very much or at all both before the pandemic and now, and less than half say they’ve been provided with upskilling opportunities
Support well-being by addressing employee needs
The pandemic has caused a significant drop in well-being with the biggest challenges being health and safety and burnout
Strong leadership builds resilience
49% who rated their leadership very effective adapted to COVID-19 disruption immediately.
