Canada's highest-paid CEOs earned 210 times more than the average worker in 2023

Canada’s 100 highest-paid CEOs earned $13.2 million on average in 2023 from salaries, bonuses and other compensation, according to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. It was the third biggest year for CEO pay since the CCPA began tracking the data in 2007, but a decline after 2021 and 2022 broke records.


Canadian DB pension plans end 2024 on a high note

Despite the uncertainty with which Canada is entering 2025, the overall financial health of Canadian defined benefit (DB) plans ended 2024 favourably, with improvements to funded positions during the fourth quarter of the year, according to the Mercer Pension Health Pulse (MPHP).


Township of Ignace loses court appeal, owes ex-employee $157K-plus

A faulty employment contract is proving costly for the Township of Ignace. Ontario's provincial Court of Appeals has rejected the township’s appeal of a Superior Court of Justice decision awarding former Ignace employee Karen Dufault $157,000 in damages for wrongful dismissal.
