Employers have increasingly turned to self-recorded interviews to screen candidates, who sign on to a website, answer questions that appear on their computers and then are screened by someone who watches the video. Increasingly, this screener is an artificial-intelligence bot, which helps employers screen more candidates faster. But rights advocates say the process — especially with the AI element — raises concerns about bias against candidates based on race or neurodivergency.

A group of federal employees targeted for dismissal because of their involvement in diversity, equity and inclusion activities has filed a class action complaint against the Trump administration. The complaint alleges that the ongoing mass firings unlawfully target federal employees based on their perceived political views, infringe on their First Amendment rights and violate anti-discrimination laws by disproportionally affecting workers who are not white men.
