Peak season for insect pressure in Ontario

It is peak season for such pests as western bean cutworm, corn rootworm, corn earworm and Japanese beetles. The OMAFRA field team provides a breakdown on each pest, how to scout for them, and what factors to consider when deciding to spray.


Report: 47 per cent of farm employers cannot fill their labour needs

In a survey of farm employers, from the Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council, more than 47 per cent of respondents said they cannot not fill their labour needs. Across the sector, more than one in three responded they receive zero Canadian applicants when they post an available job.


Government funds four projects promoting sustainability in agriculture

The Canadian government will invest up to $600,000 for four new sustainability projects. Recipients include a company testing drone-based technology using artificial intelligence for autonomous crop protection and a manufacturer of a bioplastic ideal for fruit and vegetable containers.
