Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan are evaluating a new biological for nitrogen fixation in non-legume crops such as canola and wheat. Unlike pulse crops that have the ability to fix N through rhizobia, non-legume crops have to rely on fertilizer N and residual soil N to meet requirements. Identifying other organisms that could provide N fixation in non-legume crops is of interest to researchers and industry.
