Tar spot has been in Ontario since 2020 – not long at all, but long enough to get the word out about the disease and its effects on corn. Environmental conditions in 2021 were perfect for the disease in the U.S. and Ontario, while the opposite was true in 2022. OMAFRA’s Albert Tenuta and his colleagues in Canada and the U.S. are researching ways to help producers mitigate the disease’s effects.
