With seeding underway in parts of the prairies an application of MicroActiv® herbicides (Avadex®, Fortress® and Edge®) as part of your weed control strategy is important part of maximizing yield potential. To get the most out of a spring application of Avadex, Fortress or Edge use these guide lines.
  • Evaluate Field Conditions
MicroActiv herbicides can be applied under various stubble, tillage and seeding conditions. Heavy or uneven trash should be spread out prior to application.
  • Timing Between Application, Incorporation and Seeding
Avadex and Fortress MicroActiv labels state waiting at least 10 days after application to incorporate and then seed. The Edge MicroActiv label specifies that incorporation occurs within 24 hours of application and wait a minimum of 10 days before seeding. Applying closer to seeding could reduce weed control from early emerging weeds prior to activation.
  • Use a Pre-Seed Burndown
In minimum or direct seeding systems, the use of a pre-seed burndown application is required to control any weeds that emerge prior to product activation. It is important to understand that any weeds including wild oats that are emerged or emerge prior to product activation will not be controlled.
