Who, what and how? Current uses of ag tech

In early 2022, Top Crop Manager conducted a survey on agricultural technology, asking our readers to answer questions focused on ag tech, how they use it and what they see for the future of farming. To put the resulting survey highlights in context, it is important to know more about the respondents.


The current state of technology in agriculture

The idea of working smarter, not harder, has been implemented on many Canadian farms with the widespread adoption of ag technology. Of the 1,218 respondents to the Ag Tech Survey, 73 per cent indicated they have adopted at least one type of ag tech on their farm.


Ag-tech opportunities

CAAIN CEO Kerry Wright says the right technology, when layered correctly, can enable farmers to get back to more of what matters. Although survey respondents reported a number of barriers to adoption and uptake, the survey results indicated that they, too, are keenly aware of the positive benefits of precision ag technology.
